RCMP Heritage Centre
The RCMP Heritage Centre is a museum located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is owned and operated by an independent nonprofit organization called the Mounted Police Heritage Centre and receives annual funding from all three levels of government. The Centre showcases a number of exhibits featuring the collection of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and these artifacts remain property of the RCMP.
The Government of Canada, the Government of Saskatchewan, the City of Regina and the RCMP announced the creation of the facility in early 2005. Construction began in October 2005. The first phase, a 70,000-square-foot (6,500 m2), $29-million building, designed by architect Arthur Erickson, is now open. Phase two plans for an additional 8,000 square feet (740 m2) of exhibits within the Centre along with historical landscaping, educational programming, and travelling exhibits.
