Jagodina (Serbian Cyrillic: Јагодина) is a city and the administrative center of the Pomoravlje District in central Serbia. It is 136 kilometres (85 miles) south of Belgrade, on the banks of Belica River. Its name derives from the word for strawberry (Јагода) in Serbian. The city urban area has a population of 43,311 inhabitants, while the city administrative area has a population of 76,712. Jagodina was given the status of a city in December 2007.
